Dr. Deanne Nakamoto joined Achieve in 2010. She specializes in cataracts, glaucoma, (damage to the optic nerve) and uveitis (inflammation in the eye).
Dr. Nakamoto was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University in Biochemistry and her Medical Doctor degree from Yale School of Medicine. She then completed an Internal Medicine internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut. Her Ophthalmology residency was served at Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Yale Eye Center, where she also was elected Chief Resident in 2008-09.
Dr. Nakamoto completed a fellowship in glaucoma and ocular inflammatory disease at Eye Disease Consultants, LLC, in Hartford, Connecticut. She specializes in the medical and surgical management (both laser and incisional surgery) of glaucoma. Her uveitis expertise encompasses autoimmune and infectious inflammatory disease; ocular manifestations of systemic disease; and surgical, medical, and immunomodulatory therapies for uveitis.
She lectures regularly on glaucoma and uveitis topics at state conferences. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Uveitis Society. Dr. Nakamoto has been elected by her peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® in 2013 to 2016; only those doctors recognized as the top 5% of their respective specialty earn the honor of being named one of the Best Doctors in America.
